ONE MINUTE WITH...

Laurent Puskarczyk

  • Manager
  • Passionate about art and culture

What's your background?

I have over 20 years' experience in the retail trade in the fashion, footwear, children's clothing, household linen and decoration sectors.

I have a cross-disciplinary profile inmass-market and luxury goods, and I've been lucky enough to work for some fine houses in France and Europe, such as Bata, Cyrillus, Vertbaudet, Groupe Descamps and most recently Zucchy-Basseti, the leader Italian household linen company.

First in the store, then in purchasing, supply management, logistics, procurement and finally in project management.

The best thing about my career : the systematic desire to combine performance and CSR. Or how to make ecosystems evolve to make them more responsible, committed and engaging. I've been fortunate enough to develop innovative programs such as the Bata ChildrenProgram and : "Je recycle" for Cyrillus rewarded by the 2017 ECO CONCEPTION CONCOURS des hauts de France.

Why choose Univers Retail?

For its human scale, its expertise across the entire retail value chain and its commitment to CSR. Univers Retail is a company with a wealth of expertise and diversity, and at the heart of its operations : its teams.

A close-knit team on which we can rely thanks to a wide range ofexpertise. Growing together in a spirit of sharing and pragmatic support for our customers
The fact that 70% of our team comes from the field is a real asset, as we speak the same language as the people we work with on our assignments.

What do you like best about your current job?

The most stimulating thing is to be able to work on a "customer " issue and constantly challenge yourself.

Being a consultant means adapting to a different ecosystem on each assignment, stepping out of your comfort zone to find the right solution for your customer. It's a formative profession, and we're constantly learning about ourselves, our expertise and our know-how.

My personal convictions, and my past experience as a CSR project manager with various companies, naturally led me to take an active part as an ambassador in setting up our Vendredi platform.

My job is to assist our customers with structural, operational and organizational issues. Thanks to the UR for a better world program and skills sponsorship, we are able to put our time and know-how to good use in the associative world during theinter-contract period. For me, combining personal convictions with professional development.

What advice would you give to new recruits?

Get organized, share and connect. A good to-do list is the basis for taking a step back, anticipating workloads and redefining priorities.

Being a consultant also means sometimes finding yourself alone with a client or a project. The advantage of working in a consulting firmis having a team to support you: that's why you need to know how to build relationships.

Finally, the link with the customer is also very important. I think the best compliment a consultant can receive is when an internal person no longer perceives the customer/consultant barrier. When the consultant is fully integrated to the point of becoming part of the team.

Apart from consulting, what are your passions?

Discover, share, explore, pass on.
In life, I have two foundations: a strong need to recharge my batteries, to take time for myself and my loved ones, so that I can explore the world and go beyond my limits.

Curious, epicurean, gourmand, traveler...
I'm passionate about art, culture, crafts, discoveries and encounters.

A patron of culture for over 16 years, I was lucky enough to be awarded the "Donateurs de la culture" award in 2014 by Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture and Communication, for my actions around "Mécénat participatif : Tous à l'œuvre ! " for the Louvre Museum.
