Victor Barbazanges

Manager
His background

I graduated from IESEG (business school in Lille) in 2010. I then had the good fortune, for almost 10 years, to co-create and run two companies: one a leather goods accessories brand, the other a network of offline and online retailers specializing in the men's lifestyle market (Apparel, Footwear, Accessories, Skincare, Tech, Culture, Spirits, etc.).

Why did you choose Univers Retail ?

As the name suggests, I chose Univers Retail because of the one thing we all have in common: retail! As Univers Retail is the only specialist retail consultancy in France, it was the only one I approached. In addition to its positioning and 360° expertise, I was attracted by the firm's values.

What do you like best about your current job?

The discovery, adaptation and perpetual challenge of this job! Regularly changing missions, sectors of activity, teams, discovering new visions, new businesses, each with its own constraints, opportunities and challenges... That's the richness of our profession, constantly adapting to new environments, learning about these companies every day, so that we can all improve our skills.

What advice would you give to new recruits?

  1.  Don't lock yourself into your assignment, you're not alone. The first assignments are never easy. You're discovering the job of consultant, you're discovering a new environment, and the firm is there to support you throughout your assignment.
  2.  If you're experiencing turbulent moments in your mission, I invite you to zoom out and take a step back.
  3.  And last but not least, enjoy your mission!

Apart from consulting, what are your passions?

Sports! I love setting myself new challenges every year, such as taking part in races, designing my own challenges, discovering a new sport and so on. It keeps me stimulated and keeps me from getting bored.

Cooking! I enjoy discovering new recipes, finding the right products in the right places, cooking (the pity is that I'm unable to chat...#monotâche) and inviting friends over for dinner.
